BMW Blog has reported that the M division is working on a special sports car due out in 2022. There are a few opinions on what it could be.
The blog quotes an anonymous user saying BMW is developing a limited-edition M4 (see video) with a lightweight body, manual transmission and 550 PS (542 hp / 404 kW) of engine power.
No more than 1,000 units will be assembled within several months starting in November 2022, the alleged insider claims.
Another possibility is that BMW M plans to create and produce a standalone new model from scratch. Motor1 believes the company has already been spotted testing the chassis for it hidden beneath an 8-Series Coupe body. The test mule has been sighted at the Nürburgring with unusual red accents in the radiator grille and headlights.
