New BMW M2 Competition gets a 540-hp engine

Car tuner Dähler worked on the previous-generation BMW M2 two years ago. In order to give the car a performance boost, the engineers had to remove the stock engine altogether, replacing it with a stronger S55, previously only available on the M3/M4. The car landed with 540 hp (403 kW) – more than most would wish for.

BMW took this as a hint and released the next generation of M2 with the same engine available straight from the factory. However, its performance proved subpar compared to Dähler’s offering. This is what the tuner addresses in this latest release.

The Stage 1 upgrade brings the stock engine of the latest-gen BMW M2 up to 510 hp (380 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lbft) of torque. The Stage 2 kit takes it further to 540 hp (403 kW) and 730 Nm (538 lbft). This is made possible thanks to the installation of a new exhaust system and a few other modifications.

The tuned-up BMW M2 Competition also ships with optional 20-inch wheels, adjustable suspension, hi-end eight-piston brakes, an aerodynamic kit and an interior overhaul.
