G-Power reigns supreme with the 680-HP BMW M2 Competition kit

German car tuner G-Power is famous for its high-end power upgrades that often manage to surpass solutions offered by most of the competition, if not all of it. The case in point is the BMW M2 Competition, which rolls off the assembly line with 410 horsepower (306 kilowatts) under the hood. AC Schnitzer takes it up to 500 hp (373 kW), Mcchip-dkr to 600 hp (447 kW), and G-Power easily claims the pedestal with 680 hp (507 kW) accompanied by 860 Nm (634 lbft) of torque. You can already buy the kit if you want your M2 to be the fastest of ‘em all.

The newly gained performance translates into a power-to-weight ratio of 418 hp per metric ton, which instantly takes the M2 into a supercar echelon populated by the likes of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the Lamborghini Huracan Performante.

The RWD coupe now wastes no more than 3.2 seconds getting from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph). Compare this to the standard 4.3 s of the non-tuned vehicle to put things into perspective. It also doesn’t hit its top speed until 330 km/h (205 mph).

The G-Power magic relies on an extensive control firmware upgrade, making numerous improvements to the turbochargers – including upgrading the turbine blades, rotors, chambers and housings – and redesigning the entire exhaust system.

Aside from the power kit, the firm suggests purchasing a set of 20-inch G-Power Hurricane RR wheels wrapped in Michelin tires and giving your car a lower stance by means of coilovers.
