Video: New BMW M2 CS spotted near the Nürburgring

BMW has an extremely successful RWD compact sports car on its lineup – the M2 Competition. But as good as the sported-up M2 is, the German marque couldn’t resist taking its performance up another notch with the upcoming M2 CS. Car spotters have recently espied the latter close to the Nürburgring Circuit in Germany.

Official information is a bit scarce right now, so most specs circulating around the Internet nowadays fall under the Rumors category. For one, they say BMW will only be producing the M2 CS for 12 months. For another, many believe it will come equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine rated at 445 hp (332 kW) – not bad at all, especially for a compact car.

There is hardly any doubt that the BMW М2 СS will be RWD only. As for the transmissions, customers will likely have to choose between a six-speed manual and a double-clutch transmission.

On the outside, the CS trim sports quite a few things that set it apart from the base model. These include a new front splitter, a carbon roof, a rear spoiler, a uniquely shaped rear diffuser, an original hood, new wheels, and carbon-ceramic brakes.
