German car manufacturer BMW has designed a special police car series for the Los-Angeles police force in the USA, called the M Town.
Based on the M2 Competition coupe, the special edition boasts a black-and-white LA police car livery, custom wheels, flashing lights, and a siren. It also bears a badge that says “1972”, which corresponds to the year the BMW M subdivision was founded.
Powering the series is an improved version of the 3.0-liter turbo-six engine now capable of 410 hp (306 kW) along with 550 Nm (406 lbft) of torque. This represents a 40 hp / 30 kW and an 85 Nm / 63 lbft improvement over the standard M2.
BMW never mentioned just how well the M Town accelerates from standstill. The regular M2 needs 4.2 seconds to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) with the DCT transmission, and 4.4 seconds with the manual one.
