The Competition Sport trim version of the newest BMW M2 Coupe has premiered before a small audience at a private reveal event in Belgium.
The new car will be coming to the market with a 450-hp (336-kW) engine, which is 40 hp (30 kW) stronger than what the ‘regular’ M2 Competition ships with. In its most basic implementation, it will boast adaptive suspension and an M Sport exhaust system. The transmission type remains unknown, with 7-speed DCT and manual both being possible.
The car is expected to ship with a carbon roof, hood, front spoiler and rear diffuser. The cabin trim will also involve carbon fiber along with Alcantara, and BMW M4 Competition-style bucket seats will replace the standard seats.
Allegedly, despite the lightweight materials used, the new M2 Competition Sport still weighs the same 1,575 kilograms (3,472 lbs) as its less-competitive version. The regular Competition sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.2 seconds, so we can expect the CS to do the same in under four seconds.
Customers will be able to choose from only four color schemes: Alpine White, Hockenheim Silver, Misano Blue, and Sapphire Black. The production will begin in March 2020, and the planned run amounts to 2,200 cars priced from €95,000 each.
