BMW has shared its plans regarding the upcoming M spec of the 2 Series Coupe. The car will utilize the CLAR architecture and feature RWD in conjunction with a six-speed manual or eight-speed auto transmission.
The new G87 M2 will assume the position at the top of the range with its 3.0-liter twin-turbo I6 engine reportedly capable of 420 PS (310 kW) or even more than that. In order to compete with the latest Mercedes A-Class AMG, the M2 will be tuned to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in four seconds or faster.
The new M2 Coupe won’t be out until 2022, however, and the M2 Gran Coupe will follow it some time later with AWD on board.
