Old BMW M240i gets cranked to M2 CS levels of power and torque

BMW will be unveiling the new M2 (G87) on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. In the meantime, Swiss tuning firm dÄhler rolled out an upgrade for the old generation, boosting it to numbers that might eliminate the need for owners to upgrade to the next 2-Series.

Judge for yourself: the Stage II package released this week pushes the M240i (G42) spec to 455 PS (450 hp / 336 kW) and 640 Nm (472 lb-ft) of torque. This is significantly more than the new M2 offers and basically on par with the old M2 CS. Tuned like this, the three-liter inline-six mill can take the sporty coupe to a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph) – the tuner says you only need to order a limiter removal for that.

From the technical perspective, the upgrade kit consists of enhanced intake and exhaust system components, as well as a major ECU remap. Those wishing to add individuality to their M240i may opt for CDC2 forged rims, or otherwise go for the older and more affordable CDC1 wheel set available in alloy and forged variants. Both measure 20 inches across and need 255/30 R20 and 275/30 R20 tires for the front and the rear axle, respectively.

Also on the list are stiffer suspension springs lowering the car by 25 or 35 mm (1 or 1.4 inches), a carbon body kit and carbon interior trim pieces. Rounding things off are branded floor mats.
