BMW has launched the second generation of its M2 Coupe into production in San Luis PotosÃ, Mexico. The car will be assembled next to the regular 2-Series at the site.
The company invested over $1 billion USD into the construction of the industrial complex. In the spring of 2023, a second shift is scheduled to be introduced, but not before the manufacturer finds and trains 500 new employees.
The Mexican-made M2 will be shipped to all countries worldwide where the model used to be available. The new generation made the model larger with a rather bold exterior design and a 3.0-liter turbo-six under the hood rated at 460 PS (454 hp / 338 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque. The 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint time amounts to 4.1 seconds.
