The development of the new BMW M3 is in full swing, and the company promises us a premiere at the International Motor Show Germany coming up this fall. In the meantime, car spotters have managed to seek out and take photos of the car prototype.
Based on the pics released, the 2020 BMW M3 will have a completely different radiator grille, now more reminiscent of the one that ships with the current 7 Series, if a bit smaller.
It will also get revised bumpers, fenders, and body kit parts, as well as a number of less obvious technical improvements, the manufacturer states.
Many believe that the next generation will ship with a 3.0-liter inline-six twin-turbo, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the same M xDrive AWD system as the one used by the latest M5. This should make the car faster and more agile overall, and enable you to drive it more confidently in harsh weather conditions.
It is also rumored that the engine palette of the new M3 will incorporate engines rated from 473 to 503 hp (353 to 375 kW). No official confirmation exists at this point.
Finally, once the standard M3 hits the market, BMW might follow up by releasing a special version called ‘Pure’, packing a rear-wheel drive and a six-speed manual gearbox.
