BMW M3 first camo-free pic here at last

It won’t be long before BMW unveils its M3 performance sedan/saloon on official terms, but in the meantime, we can enjoy the first image of the non-cladded car on what looks like an assembly line.

The pic prompts the assumption that the pre-production stage has already begun for the M3. Unfortunately, the photo only shows the rear end of the car, including the wide fenders, the contrast-painted tailgate spoiler, the quad exhaust tips, and the diffuser matching the body color.

Watch our gallery for some spy photos of the new M3, including those showing the cabin.

The 2020 BMW M2 will ship with manufacturer-promised 510 hp (380 kW) under the hood, although there is evidence that the real dyno numbers might be even more impressive than that. It is expected that one version will ship with RWD and manual transmission, while all other versions will benefit from AWD and eight-speed automatic. The AWD system will be identical to that of the latest M5, which means the opportunity to uncouple the front axle and activate Drift Mode.
