BMW M3 & M4 release schedule announced, Pure Edition explained

Following the alleged photo leak of the new BMW M4, the Bavarian automaker has released some important information concerning the upcoming M3 and M4, as well as their Pure versions.

Both models will ship with their all-wheel drive systems set to active by default, with the optional ability to uncouple the front axle. Both will get the same three-liter inline-six engine boosted to deliver up to 510 hp (380 kW) to the wheels, linked to an automatic transmission.

The Pure Edition will keep the engine naturally aspirated, the gearbox manual and the drive on the rear axle. It will also boast originally styled bumpers, wheels and multiple paint choices to choose from.

The M3 sedan/saloon and the M4 coupe will both celebrate their official international premiere in September, but actual shipments won’t begin until later on. The Pure models will be the first to arrive in early 2021, followed by their AWD+turbo counterparts closer to the end of that year.

The rumored lightweight BMW M4 CSL might also be released in the near future, but there has been no confirmation of this on behalf of BMW yet.
