A few months ago, we reported on a successful engine swap that left a first-gen BMW E30 M3 with a modern S54 six-cylinder at its disposal. A few days ago, a similar conversion went up on sale in Virginia, USA.
The owner ditched the stock four-cylinder in favor of a new 3.2-liter non-turbo I6 taken from an E46 M3. He proceeded to fit it with better ignition, water pump, drive belt with tensioner, thermostat and other similar upgrades. In all likelihood, the output rose from the standard 360 hp (268 kW) to a more respectable amount of horsepower, but specific figures are missing from the sale ad.
The 1998 coupe got to keep its iconic look without major changes except for the cabin. The latter received Alcantara-draped Recaro seats, a downsized sports steering wheel, a new gear shifter and blue stitching all around. Further notable features include power steering and carbon fiber detailing on the doors.
