Vincent Wong, the owner of Forgestar Wheels, has a couple souped-up Porsches in his garage – a 993 Turbo and a Carrera 4 Coupe. Despite this, he is particularly proud of his latest work – this BMW E30 M3. What’s so exciting about it? Let’s find out!
The car stays largely stock on the outside, unless you count all the M Performance parts as upgrades. The 17-inch, matte-black Forgestar F14 wheels are decidedly the main highlight here. The rims fill out their respective arches perfectly, exposing vivid red Brembo calipers as they do so.
The cabin sports a much more thorough overhaul. There is a custom-made roll cage, two Recaro bucket seats, no back row, Alcantara on the ceiling, and superior Dynamat-based noise proofing. The windshield, steering wheel, dashboard, center console, gear stick and glove compartment are also new.
The most interesting part of the project lies hidden under the engine cover. The M3 relies on the widely popular inline-six engine of the E36 series to propel it forward. The unit is called S50B32 and normally produces 195 hp (145 kW) along with 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) of torque. In this specific car, however, it hits the wheels with all of 321 hp (239 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. The list of mods goes on to mention Ireland Engineering and Treehouse Racing suspension parts, rear differential lock, and new a clutch mechanism. The classic coupe needs less than five seconds to rev up to 100 km/h (62 mph) and has excellent track dynamics.
