Somewhere in South Africa, amidst the sands and the savannah, a wondrous BMW E92 M3 Convertible roams, harboring a fiery Ferrari V8 at its core. The team of cars.co.za has recently managed to track down the owner of the vehicle and invite themselves to a test drive.
As it turned out, the topless Bavarian was swapped to the Ferrari F136 mill that has made its way into numerous Ferraris and Maseratis in the past two decades. What surprised us is how well it slotted into the engine bay and partnered up with the stock transmission. In fact, not too well – the wheels barely receive 300 horsepower instead of the promised 325 hp – but it is nothing that some further tuning cannot resolve.
Other notable features of the unusual build include its Pandem body kit, automatically leveling air-ride suspension, bespoke rims and a bluish-grey paintjob of Porsche origins.
