This BMW M3 Coupe left the factory in 2011 and received a stylistic makeover a decade later that saw it turn into a lookalike of the elusive and formidable M3 GTS. It is on sale right now with around 41,000 km (25,000 miles) on the odo and the bidding at $100,000 a few days before the auction end.
BMW only ever made 150 M3 GTS units 11 years ago. Comparted to the stock model, these coupes took advantage of lighter body panels, revised aerodynamics, a track-inspired interior, and a special 4.4-liter V8 capable of 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW).
None of these cars ever made it into the United States on official terms, which apparently led one enthusiast to create one from scratch. The fake GTS comes finished in an authentic-looking shade of orange (available through BMW Individual) and sports a front splitter along with a rear wing. Rounring things off on the outside is a carbon roof.
A half-cage painted to match the exterior resides where the rear bench had been, while the front seats are represented by Recaro buckets with Schroth multi-point harnesses. Unlike the original, the car still has its infotainment system and two-zone HVAC on board. The suspension benefits from KW and H&R components, and you can discern Brembo calipers behind those 19-inch black aftermarket wheels.
The original four-liter V8 rated at 420 PS (414 hp / 309 kW) is also gone, replaced with a 4.6-liter block with unnamed characteristics. Like the GTS, the car uses an M Dual Clutch Drivelogic transmission with a Variable M Differential Lock.
