A special MotoGP version of the BMW M3 Touring has just debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Rather than directly participating in the race, the wagon will be supervising it as a safety vehicle.
To that end, it wears the appropriate livery and comes equipped with auxiliary lights built into its radiator grille and roof. It also sports carbon-fiber splitter and diffuser, front canards and a special exhaust system with the tailpipes in the middle. Like any self-respecting safety car, it has racing buckets with safety harnesses instead of standard seats.
The BMW M3 Touring MotoGP Safety Car will first show itself in action at the Silverstone Grand Prix in the UK in August.
As for the road-legal variant of the M3 estate (see video), the car is slated to go into mass production in November 2022 and start shipping before the year ends.
