At the Frankfurt Motor Show 15 years ago, AC Schnitzer caused some big ripples when it revealed its project car named the GP3.10 – essentially a BMW 3-Series running on a custom V10 powertrain with plenty of thrust despite its fuel source. The car is now on sale again.
Powering the GP3.10 is the same naturally aspirated ten-cylinder engine that powered its contemporary M5 and M6 models. The difference is that the M3 shown here utilizes a serial liquid petroleum gas (LPG) injection system plugged in to two blocks of five cylinders each. Thanks to a special ECU and a seriously overhauled exhaust system, the setup produces up to 552 PS (544 hp / 406 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque.
As a result, the 3-Series gets to 100 km/h (62 mph) from zero in 4.5 seconds and doubles that acceleration in 13.9 seconds, maxing out as high as 318 km/h (197.6 mph). These specs would have made a petrol car proud, let alone one running on LPG! To keep that kind of power in check, the brake calipers at the front have eight pistons and the rear ones have four. The suspension supports height adjustment and benefits from sway bars.
Elsewhere, the car boasts a full range of body and cabin modifications that you will be better off checking out in the video below. It is on sale right now for a buy-it-now price of €60,000, but you can as well make your own offer and wait until the auction closes in four days. The current best offer is €40,150.
