The newfangled ‘coffin grille’ of the BMW M3 sedan and M4 coupe has garnered polarizing feedback, prompting many tuners all around the world to work on replacements. The latest one comes from Adro and looks rather well thought out.
Davis Lee, Chief Designer of the aftermarket firm who had previously worked in Mercedes-Benz and Rivian, said a number of fundamental errors were made when the new M grille was designed. Fixing these errors would ideally necessitate redoing the entire exterior design from scratch, but much could be achieved with surgical modifications to the most problematic spots.
This is why all owners of newer BMWs who are dissatisfied with their grilles will soon be able to pre-order a full body kit for their car. Included are an all-new front end, side skirt extensions, a rear diffuser and a rear wing (the wing is M4-only).
In their proposed new form, the twin nostrils become wider but less tall, occupy 10% less space at the front and move down towards a pronounced carbon-fiber splitter. The lower air intakes get redesigned, too, and the drag-reducing fins turn around for a more aggressive angle of attack.
The body kit will debut at the SEMA show tomorrow priced at $11,900 with everything included. Buyers will be able to order individual components, too.
