BMW has a lot of nice options in stock for the wagon-shaped M3 (G81), but carbon-fiber top is not among them. In August, a UK-based tuning company named R44 Performance filled in the gap with a solution of its own. This week, Evolve Automotive did pretty much the same in its own way.
The donor vehicle here is a mint-condition M3 Touring that gets its metal roof chopped off in exchanged for a lighter plastic version reinforced with carbon fiber. The weight savings sum up to a modest 11 kilos (24 lbs), with the car itself tipping the scales at just under two metric tons (4,400 lbs).
Other upgrades have been installed as well, including a CFP hood, lightweight 19- and 20-inch wheels, MSS suspension components and TPI track spacers.
The vendor of the carbon roof and hood is Alpha N-Performance.
