BMW M4 Convertible rears itself on patent shots

The latest bunch of official patent pics does a great job showing off the topless variant of the new BMW M4, so let’s brace up and take a look.

Quite unsurprisingly, the M Cabrio is marked as a car having less structural rigidity than its coupe-shaped counterpart. The ability to drive under open sky and sun should outweigh this minor drawback to anyone interested. Also, it looks like the top is soft, which should make it more affordable than similar hardtop designs.

The main issue we have with the design – aside from the front grille, which has arguably been discussed to death already – is the abruptly dropping roofline that disrupts the entire body outline. The reason could be that the new M4 had originally been designed as a coupe (see video), and the Cabrio was more of an afterthought. Then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What do you think?
