A recent YouTube video pits a new BMW M4 Competition up against an entry-spec Porsche 911 Carrera in a quarter-mile drag race. Which one is your bet on?
The current M4 Competition has much going for it, packing a 3.0-liter dual-turbo I6 good for 503 PS (496 hp / 370 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. In contrast, the Carrera only has 380 PS (375 hp / 279 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft).
You might think this would give the Bavarian coupe enough headway, but let’s not forget that the 911 is much faster on the uptake and has a way of bringing its power to the ground that few other cars can match.
