Recently made spy photos of an M4 coupe in disguise suggest that BMW is getting a high-performance version ready to rumble, likely named ‘CS’ or ‘CSL’.
As you can see, the front fascia and the rear end both look different from before. No amount of disguise can conceal an aggressive-looking front splitter, air intakes and canards. The rear spoiler is larger than before, the exhaust tips are dual, and the bumper/diffuser combo looks restyled.
The performance car is expected to pack more than 500 horsepower thanks to an improved 3.0-liter twin-turbo I6, but the main emphasis will likely be put on minimizing its weight, rather than maximizing power.
It remains unclear when the new M4 CS(L) might premiere on official terms. Earlier statements from BMW mentioned ‘summer 2022 at the earliest’, but the test vehicle looks almost production-ready, so we could be in for a surprise reveal ahead of schedule.
