Video: BMW M4 does a Nürburgring lap in 7m 30s

This summer proved particularly hot for the North Loop, which witnessed a Porsche 911 GT2 RS setting a new production car record of 6m 43s in late June and an Audi compact lapping it up in 7m 40.7s earlier this week. A 2021 BMW M4 Competition joins their club now with a near-record time.

Granted, the Bavarian coupe only managed to finish the lap in 7 minutes 30.79 seconds, but the result is still quite impressive for a production car. It becomes more impressive still if you consider that the weather was overcast, and there were visible traces of rain on some sections.

To put things into some manner of perspective, the more powerful BMW M5 CS needed 7 minutes 29.5 seconds for the same lap. The old-gen M4 GTS managed 7:27.88 once, and a Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z51 showed 7:29.9 back in July 2019.

The latest M4 Competition comes powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder rated at 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque.
