So much has been said about the design of the new BMW G80 M3 and the G83 M4 that adding any more just doesn’t make sense. Some believe the giant kidneys are bold and modern, while others start looking for other brands than BMW to be loyal to. Evolve Automotive has an interesting proposal to make to the latter group before they go, though.
As of right now, the front apron with integrated grille elements only exists on virtual renderings, but the company plans to start production next month. As you can see, the odious kidney grille becomes substantially smaller in this version and resembles that of the older BMWs. Having said that, it still has the crease of the newer grille and is filled with similar massive vertical bars, so we would say it is halfway between old and new.
Other than that, there is a much larger, vaguely mouth-shaped grille at the bottom and a partition between them wide enough to put a license plate on. The OEM grille requires you to bend the plate around the middle of it, which some like and others do not.
Just how good the proposed alternative looks is up to you to decide. We feel like Evolve could experiment around with the proportions for a bit longer, because the current part feels a bit off. There was another similar solution from Prior Design around a year ago, but we haven’t heard from that company since.
