BMW has yet to show us the lightweight CSL version of its M4 coupe (browse the gallery here for teasers and spy shots), but Whichcar claims it has it on good authority that the carmaker is considering another, still more powerful variant of the same car.
According to the source, the BMW M4 Hommage will be the next addition to the manufacturer’s Hommage lineup. Like other modifications of this model, it will use a 3.0-liter inline-six engine, but the mill will allegedly be boosted to 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. This would put it some 50 horsepower (37 kilowatts) above the upcoming M4 CSL.
We are told that the car will keep its RWD setup to stay light compared to AWD rivals. Outfitted like this, it should be able to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in mere 3.5 seconds and ultimately exceed 300 km/h (186 mph).
Allegedly, BMW plans on keeping all the standard body reinforcements in place in order to be able to pass certification tests easily. The exterior will likely be revised with more aggressive styling cues and racing-grade adjustable aerodynamic components.
Only 50 units will be built and offered starting at 600,000 euros. The launch will reportedly coincide with BMW M celebrating 50 years in business.
