The most powerful BMW M4 ever shows up in photos

Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M, has shared images of the upcoming M4 CSL-based special edition on his social pages. A stylish-looking wrap disguises the details, but there is simply no mistaking such obvious design changes as the downsized nostril grille.

The grille maintains its upper part recognizable, but narrows down towards the bottom and ends much sooner than modern BMW grilles tend to. The whole front bumper is redesigned with air intakes in place of the fog lights, just like on the E46 M3 CSL.

An image of the rear end reveals wide wheel arches, a prominent rear wing with integrated supports, and a spoiler mounted at the junction point of the roof and rear window, like on the iconic 3.0 CSL. The license plate now sits on the bumper instead of trunk lid.

If you take a closer look at the tail end, you will see ‘6MT FTW’ in a black rectangle, a dead giveaway that the car will utilize a six-speed manual transmission. The trunk lid itself depicts an eight-cylinder engine, also a major detour from the inline-six engine palette of the recent M3/M4 lineup.

Other parameters remain unknown. For the stock M4 CSL, watch the video.
