Manhart works its tuning magic on a rare BMW M4

Manhart has unveiled a project car born from a 2016 BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition dedicated to Marco Wittmann’s triumph at the DTM championship seven years ago. The tuning left the exotic coupe with some extra power and exterior aggression, but no production run.

From the factory, the M4 DTM had racecar aesthetic plastered all over it and a cabin with a half-cage installed instead of the rear bench. Its 3.0-liter inline-six engine came from the M4 GTS and drove the wheels with 500 PS (492 hp / 368 kW) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. Only 200 were made.

Manhart retrofitted the engine with new turbos, an intercooler, a carbon-fiber intake manifold and an ECU. The result was measured at 708 PS (698 hp / 521 kW) and 980 Nm (723 lb-ft) of torque. The dynamic performance was not mentioned, but the “stock” model is by no means a slouch itself, going 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.8 seconds and reaching 305 km/h (189.5 mph) in a straight line.

On the exterior side of things, additions included a carbon-fiber front splitter, a trunk lid spoiler and a large rear wing. 20-inch wheels, a new rear diffuser and a carbon-tipped stainless-steel exhaust system round things off here.

Inside, a racing gauge display installed on top of one of the middle air vents is the only new addition – the rest stays untouched.

According to Manhart, the tuning is a one-off job.
