Some time ago, Polish tuner Auto-Dynamics has released an upgrade kit for the BMW X5 M. This time around, the company came up with a similar package for the BMW M550i xDrive. Once upgraded, the sedan can compete with the latest M5 in terms of performance.
The engineers reprogrammed the engine control unit and retrofitted the car with a better exhaust system by AC Schnitzer. As a result, the 4.4-liter V8 turbo engine now develops up to 539 hp (396 kW) and 788 Nm (581 lb×ft) of torque. To compare, the BMW М5 is capable of 600 hp (447 kW) and 826 Nm (609 lb×ft) of torque.
The acceleration performance of the tuned-up M550i xDrive remains undisclosed, by Auto-Dynamic claims that its acceleration from 100 to 200 km/h (62–124 mph) is “colossal”. We believe the actual figures are close to those of the M5: 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.4 seconds, top speed 305 km/h.
