RaceChip, a car customization atelier specializing in engine tuning, has unveiled a performance upgrade for the BMW M5 (F90). The entire power kit boils down to chip tuning.
In order to squeeze the most out of the stock BMW M5 engine, the engineers went for the top-of-the-line RaceChip GTS Black module. As a result, the car gained 147 hp (110 kW) and 165 Nm (122 lb×ft) of torque, ending up with an impressive total of 747 hp (557 kW) and 915 Nm (675 lb×ft).
Once upgraded by RaceChip, the BMW M5 became capable of accelerating 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, as opposed to 6.9s in the production version. The car now shares the pedestal with such high-performers as the Porsche 991 Turbo S, Mercedes E63s AMG and Audi RS6 Avant.
P.S. RaceChip revealed an interesting detail while working on the project. As it turned out, the bone-stock sedan came straight from the factory with 665 hp under the hood, instead of the manufacturer-rated 600. Upon further research, we can conclude that many M5 vehicles demonstrate higher performance than what is stated in the documents.
