We have already seen the main BMW 5 Series being tested on public streets (watch the video if you haven’t). Today, the latest M5 facelift showed up as well.
The sports sedan/saloon is only partly wrapped in the test mule wrap, highlighting the areas to be updated. These include laser headlights with restyled DRLs, the front air intakes and the radiator grille, which will likely gain in size in accordance with the company’s newest design philosophy.
Judging by the heavily-cladded rear side, the rear apron and diffuser will both be new. The exhaust system, on the other hand, will remain unchanged, and the taillights may change their pattern at most.
No official technical specs are known to date. The current-gen M5 ships with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 capable of up to 625 PS (460 kW). The engine could be expected to get a minor update that would further reduce the emissions or improve the performance by a small margin. The suspension might also get a few subtle tweaks, but hardly more than that.
The launch of the updated 5 Series is scheduled for the second half of 2020.
