Noelle coaxes 261 hp out of the new BMW M5 via software

North American tuner Noelle Performance has found a way to squeeze an additional 261 hp (195 kW) out of the F90 BMW M5. The hardest part to believe is that the company has managed it via ECU tuning.

We were frankly tempted to call it ‘a simple chip tune’, but soon realized that reprogramming the engine software to turn the factory-guaranteed 600 hp (447 kW) into 861 hp (642 kW) cannot be simple in any understanding of the term, and this deserves better recognition. Simultaneously, the torque goes up from 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) to 1,003 Nm (740 lb-ft). Doing it in software takes skill, so color us impressed!

Noelle Performance does not reveal the price specifics for their F90 BMW M5, but the video here lays bare the fact you essentially get 85% of the Bugatti Veyron power for one-tenth of the price.

The one caveat is that the manipulation can and will likely void your warranty. The company is now talking with BMW, hoping to legalize the upgrade somehow.
