BMW officially refreshed its 5 Series a few days ago, including the M5 performance spec (watch the video if you missed it). Today, it lifted the veil over the range-topping M5 CS.
The top spec will keep the familiar 4.4-liter V8 under the hood, but it will be boosted to deliver approximately 650 horsepower (485 kilowatts) and 800 Newton-meters (627 feet-pounds) of maximum torque. The latest M5 Competition churns out 625 hp (466 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft).
The CS will also get stiffer suspension (whereas the latest M5 rides softer than its predecessor), an improved electronic differential at the rear end, carbon-ceramic brakes (standard feature) and a plethora of extras. Customers will be able to treat themselves to a number of special exterior colors and wheels, a carbon-fiber roof, additional aerodynamic kit parts, and maybe some interior options as well (not confirmed at this time).
The BMW M5 CS will premiere later this year, emerge in a strictly limited production batch and cost around 10% more than the base M5.
