Classic BMW car fans remember the infamous E61 M5 Touring generation that shipped in Europe with a horrific, issue-ridden SMG transmission. Most of E61 owners have moved on by now and try not to disrupt their sleep with flashbacks to it, but one talented tuner took things up a notch and gave the wagon a gearbox transplant.
We are talking about Everything M3s here, a workshop headed by a former Formula One mechanic. The company has already switched one BMW – an E46 M3 CSL – to manual before, so it had some experience in the matter when it took up the E61. A new custom six-speed box was linked to a stock 5.0-liter V10 churning out 507 PS (500 hp / 373 kW) and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) of torque without forced induction.
As evidenced by the video, the M5 Touring runs exceptionally well with its new transmission. Another thing that makes us excited is that the conversion reportedly only cost around €7,200.
