The festive BMW M5 Touring is an early 2024 Christmas gift

BMW has posted a video dedicated to the next generation of its M5 wagon, as well as some photos. The car comes wrapped in a cheery gift wrap sporting a BMW M logo pattern.

The accompanying description states that the M5 Touring is a Christmas present we won’t be able to unbox until the next year.

According to the official press release, the work on the new M5 Touring is nearing its conclusion with multiple prototypes running pre-production tests all over the world. The five-door family hauler has a reworked and improved AWD system that’s part-electric in nature, but further details are lacking.

The car is set to become the third M5 estate/wagon generation on the market. Before it, only the E34 and E61 generations had such a version, and both were produced in limited quantities.

In earlier news, the Bavarian automaker confirmed that the new M5 would inherit its powertrain from the XM SUV, albeit with some modifications. The XM packed a 4.4-liter V8 and an electric motor joining forces for 748 PS (738 hp / 550 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque.
