The Bavarian automaker has revealed that the overwhelming majority of modern-day M5 drivers never hit the racetrack once in their life.
Furthermore, according to the statistics collected by the company, those few drivers who did take their high-end performance sedan to the track once never returned for another day of racing.
Despite this, BMW claims that its M5 lineup needs to be “battle-ready” at any time, and that its engineers will continue to do everything to maintain its sports car status. If you don’t mind a bit of honesty from us, it’s kind of hard to believe when you consider that the latest M5 has a minimum curb weight of 2,435 kilograms (5,368 pounds). That’s a lot of car to control at high speeds.
