We already saw this specific M8 test vehicle on the North Loop in mid-May, albeit it looked a touch less bloodthirsty back then. Many of us decided it was an M8 CSL, but the automaker later officially denied plans to produce such a model.
So, what’s the deal with this bizarre M8 prototype? BMW said earlier that it was simply using it for testing out various OEM accessories. This sounds reasonably plausible: the car is outfitted head-to-toe with options such as ventilated windows, a tall spoiler, a red-hued radiator grille, and others.
What really catches attention is a pair of red-backed LED headlights. Calling them menacing would be an understatement. Then there is also a new hood with vents and sport stripes.
But is it just that – a random test vehicle? One should probably keep in mind that BMW celebrates 50 years of its M division next year. Not releasing a badass-looking M car for the occasion would be unthinkable. This is why we suspect it could be a special edition, after all.
