BMW dropped its agreement with Swedish traction battery supplier Northvolt that it announced four years ago.
The batteries had been supposed to power up the Bavarian company’s Neue Klasse lineup of electric vehicles. However, Northvolt has failed to begin full-scale production of the battery packs in the stipulated period. Reports are coming in that it ended up being a few years late on some of its promises, making further cooperation no longer viable for BMW.
The automaker is now exploring the opportunities of a contract with Samsung SDI (South Korea).
