A recent spy video shows the new BMW X1 M35i being tested near the Arctic Circle. Despite running under a camo wrap, it appears larger than its predecessor with an all-new front fascia, but little change otherwise.
The X1 M35i will fall short of a true BMW M in terms of performance, but rumors claim it will be powered by the same engine as the M135i and M235i. It is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 306 PS (302 hp / 225 kW) and 332 Nm (245 lb-ft) of torque.
The main highlight of the video comes when the crossover SUV slides onto a slippery surface and tries to get a hold on it. It has the BMW xDrive system and sticky tires helping it, so the result is impressive.
The next-gen X1 is set to debut later this year, but the date remains to be revealed.
