An attentive pedestrian has managed to spot and photograph a hybrid-powered BMW X2 being driven on a public street without any kind of test mule cladding on. This means the car will likely be unveiled soon.
You can tell it is the hybrid, since it has a power socket in its front left fender. Oh, and the ‘Hybrid test Vehicle’ badge on the side is a dead giveaway, too.
Compared to its internal-combustion counterpart, the car has different LED DRLs and a single tailpipe – but that would be it for the changes. That said, the final production version might get other modifications.
It is official that the upcoming BMW X2 Hybrid will come powered by a turbocharged gasoline engine rated at 125 hp (93 kW) and an electric motor adding 95 hp (71 kW). It will therefore deliver a total of 220 hp (164 kW) to all four wheels – just like the BMW X1 xDrive25e Hybrid. The traction battery will be limited to just 9.7 kilowatt-hours, and no range estimations have been provided yet.
