Following the announcement of the hybrid-powered BMW X1 last fall, BMW now promises to launch its stronger sibling, the X2 xDrive25e, later this year.
The X2 PHEV looks identical to its ICE-powered counterpart until you spot the charging port on its left fender or the ‘Hybrid’ badge on the trunk lid.
The SUV comes powered by a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder turbo engine driving the front axle by means of a six-speed automatic transmission, and a single electric motor driving the rear axle. The nominal power delivery to the wheels amounts to 220 hp (164 kW) and 385 Nm (284 lb-ft). It sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 6.8 seconds and maxes out at 195 km/h (121 mph).
The BMW X2 PHEV offers 57 kilometers (35 miles) of all-electric range and needs between 3 and 5 hours to charge its battery from zero to full, depending on the power source.
