BMW has shared a short vid previewing a mysterious SUV. While the name was never revealed, certain hints in the description make us believe that the second generation of the X2 is on the way. Just when it may debut remains unknown.
The video shows a crossover SUV with a slanted roof an impressively large spoiler, as well as a front end with an illuminated grille and lit DRLs. On the whole, the side view resembles that of the X2 prototypes spotted testing around a year ago.
The lighting is very dark, so making any further conclusions is difficult. Still, by the way some details are illuminated it looks like the new X2 will sport a more distinct style compared to the X1 than before. For instance, the grille contours are larger and edgier than those of the X1, and the DRLs look more like those installed on the latest 5-Series.
From the technical standpoint, the models will likely continue to be related. Like the X1 updated last summer, the new X2 will likely ship with a number of ICE and hybrid powertrain options rated up to 317 PS (313 hp / 233 kW), as well as a dual-motor EV version with 313 PS (309 hp / 230 kW) at its disposal.
