DTE Systems has adjusted its signature PowerControl RX engine tuning module to work with the latest BMW X3 M and X4 M (F97/F98).
The modifications were performed on the standard X3 M, but they can be applied to the technically identical X4 M just as well. We have no data on the compatibility of the upgrade with the Competition trim, but it should be compatible.
The ECU tune squeezes an additional 154 hp (115 kW) along with 145 Nm (107 lb-ft) of torque out of the engine, bringing the total to 634 hp (473 kW) and 745 Nm (549 lb-ft). Not bad, given that it puts the X3 on par with the BMW M8 Competition in terms of spec numbers!
As for the real-world acceleration dynamics, both SUVs not sprint 100-160 km/h (60-100 mph) a full second faster than before.
Aside from the boost kit, DTE systems traditionally suggests installing its signature gas pedal module that should improve throttle response.
