Autoreview has posted some exclusive photos of the next-generation BMW X3 as it was running its road tests in California. One of the two vehicles photographed was apparently an M Performance version, which is expected to debut under the name ‘X3 M50’.
No amount of wrap can conceal the fact that the new X3 resembles the latest 5-Series (watch the video and compare if you feel like it). As for the rear end, it appears to be similar to that of the BMW XM.
The interior will most likely get a new layout with two displays merged into one panel, an infotainment system based on OS 8.5, and a two-spoke steering wheel.
For the powertrain, buyers will be choosing from assorted hybrids; an all-electric Neue Klasse version should also be available. The M Performance version is expected to keep its 3.0-liter B58 six-cylinder engine under the hood.
We will learn more when the new X3 celebrates its official premiere next year.
