It can be hard to believe how often one sees the BMW X3 M overtaking sports cars on the drag strip. The question is, does it nearly have enough potential to tackle the formidable Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk?
Both cars received major modifications before the drag race. The American off-roader usually gets 717 PS (707 hp / 527 kW) and up to 875 Nm (645 lb-ft) of torque out of its supercharged five-cylinder. The tune pushed these numbers to 941 PS (928 hp / 692 kW) and 1,130 Nm (833 lb-ft) of torque.
In turn, the Bavarian SUV was switched to E30 fuel, received an ECU tune, and had its catalytic converter removed. There must’ve been other modifications as well, but they weren’t mentioned, and neither was the power rating.
Do you think an X3 M stands a chance against the much bulkier, but at the same time extremely powerful Trackhawk? Watch the video and find out!
