Check out a trio of ~1,000-HP BMWs racing each other

YouTube channel Officially Gassed has procured three different BMWs tuned to deliver around a thousand horsepower each. An M3 Touring (G81), an X3 M (F97) and an M5 (F90) hit the drag strip to find out which one was the fastest of them all.

Starting with the Touring, its inline-six engine received a thorough overhaul from DNA Auto House. As a result, its output to the wheels culminated in 970 PS (957 hp / 713 kW) and 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft) of torque.

The M5 sedan was massaged by Velocity Tuning to a comparatively tame 875 PS (863 hp / 644 kW). Despite being the least powerful of the three on paper, the car is nonetheless the fastest 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprinter with a time of 2.33 seconds. The M3 Touring is also outstanding with 2.54 seconds, but slower.

Last but not least, the X3 M wound up with a large-scale powertrain overhaul by AMC Performance that saw its output skyrocket to a claimed 1,100 PS (1,085 hp / 809 kW) and 1,280 Nm (944 lb-ft). As impressive as it sounds, the crossover lags a little behind the competition with a launch time of 3.17 seconds. Furthermore, it encountered technical issues during the actual races that prevented it from realizing its full potential.
