Low, agile, fast: BMW X4 gets H&R lowering springs

When BMW announced its X6 model, many failed to understand its point; now, everyone is praising it, and many have produced their own clones. So did the Bavarian carmaker itself when it churned out the more wallet-friendly X4.

Starting this month, all BMW X4 owners may opt for special lowering springs designed by H&R. The upgrade costs €260 regardless of your specific model designation and fits all factory suspension types, including standard, M Sport, and adaptive shocks. The xDrive AWD system is also fully supported.

The amount of lowering you will be getting directly depends on the engine, however. The low-end models 20i, 30i, 20d and 25d drop by 40 mm (1.6 inches) at the front end and 30 mm (1.2”) at the rear end. The M40i and 30d make do with 35 mm (1.4”) at the front and 20 mm (0.8”) at the rear, and the range-topping M40d diesel can only go down 30 mm (1.2”) at the front and 15 mm (0.6”) at the rear. In all cases, handling should become more responsive, especially during fast curves, and side rolling should become less of an issue.
