Dreaming about driving a 600-PS crossover with sporty suspension and other performance features was an odd fantasy to have just a couple of decades ago, but the past several years changed everything. Meet the MHX4 600, a sported-up BMW X4 M Competition with plenty of engine thrust.
Those familiar with German tuner Manhart will immediately recognize the exterior styling, but let’s talk about the engine first. Thanks to a new exhaust system (catalyst delete optional) and an ECU tune, it is now churning out 635 PS (626 hp / 467 kW) and 785 Nm (579 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the bulky X4 to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) faster than the factory-rated 3.7 seconds, although the precise time remains to be measured.
A performance SUV has to be stable in corners, and this one achieves it with a 30mm (1.2-inch) drop in ride height. The brakes are considered good enough as is, but customers who would rather have them upgraded only need to ask Manhart.
Elsewhere, the tuned Bavarian soft-roader wears a body kit consisting of a splitter, side sills, aerodynamic mirror casings, a rear diffuser and front air intake bezels. 22-inch Alpina wheels take up the arches by default, but you can opt for a set of 21-inch Manhart Concave One rims.
Rounding off the project is a complete interior makeover, which is also optional and fully individual.
