The U.S.-spec BMW X5 35d xDrive received a custom tune-up that substantially improved its performance both on the highway and out in the wild.

Darkside Developments, which was responsible for the tuning, outfitted the diesel engine with a single powerful Garrett turbocharger, a high-end FMIC intercooler, and purpose-made downpipes. Rounding things off with an ECU tune, the team managed to extract around 413 PS (407 hp / 304 kW) and 814 Nm (600 lb-ft) of torque from the setup.

As a result, the crossover now sprints 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) in 4.66 seconds and does a quarter-mile run in less than 13 seconds. Future plans for this build include improving fuel system and upgrading camshafts, which should yield another 20 PS (20 hp / 15 kW) and 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) of torque or so.
