2024 BMW X5 and X6 bow with considerable updates

BMW has introduced the X5 and X6 facelifts. Both bring along minor exterior tweaks and major changes under the hood. The production is scheduled to begin in April 2023.

The X5 sDrive40i and the X6 xDrive40i both benefit from a new 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo engine helped along by a 48V starter. The output in both cases amounts to 381 PS (376 hp / 280 kW) and 519 Nm (383 lb-ft) of torque.

The M60i xDrive continues using its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, but also adds a mild-hybrid system to it for improved fuel efficiency. The power and torque stay unchanged at 530 PS (523 hp / 380 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft).

The old xDrive45e is no longer available, replaced with a new plug-in hybrid spec called X5 xDrive50e PHEV. It commands 489 PS (482 hp / 360 kW), 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque, and packs a 25.7-kWh traction battery taking it as far as 64 km (40 miles) in all-electric mode.

There are barely any changes in appearance, while inside, the two main screens are now combined into a single large, curbed display.
